Rocky the musical is adapted from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and roughly follows the plot of the 1976 film. In 2012, the show held its world premiere at the Opperettenhaus in Hamburg. In 2014 Rocky opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre. In 2015 the show opened at the Palladium theatre in Stuttgart.
